most evenings at dusk.
The camp consists of nine self-contained tents. Bathrooms have running hot and cold water, showers, and flush toilets. There is a dining room and bar under thatch. Electricity is 12 volt supplied by solar power..
GAME VIEWING: The entry gate to Lake Manyara Park is less than ten minutes drive from the camp. The Park, made famous by Iain Douglas-Hamilton's book "Amongst the Elephants", is 320 sq kms in area, most of which is taken up by the lake.
The park has a variety of vegetation types. The ground water forest as you enter the park, the soda flats circling the lake, and the acacia woodland that makes up a large part of the park. Animals to be seen include elephant, buffalo, impala, giraffe, hippo, jackals, waterbuck, baboons, monkeys, wart hogs, and zebra.
CULTURAL: Visits to local village projects such as a flower farm, local farming, and the banana plantations. Also to be seen is the hand crafting of Maasai spears, knives, and other metal work as well as a visit to a Maasai village.
HIKING: At Migunga Camp there is a
short nature trail of 30 minutes through the acacia forest; the walk can be extended to
the grass plain on the Lake flats.
For hikes of two days or more there is the spectacular hike from Embakai Crater to Natron.
Allow for 6 to 7 hours of hiking per day. This is a challenging hike in Maasai area. There
is an overnight stop at a basic fly camp. Participants should be in reasonably fit
